The Instituto de Estructura de la Materia (IEM) is located in the CSIC campus on Serrano street in Madrid, allocated over two buildings: Serrano 121 and Serrano 123. Serrano is one of the most important and commercial streets of Madrid. CSIC campus is not far from the downtown, 30 minutes by subway (“Metro”) from Puerta del Sol (downtown centre) and half an hour by taxi from Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport.

You can see the paths from the Metro stations República Argentina (exit Joaquín Costa pares, 5 minutes), Gregorio Marañón (10 minutes), and Nuevos Ministerios (10 minutes) marked on the map located on other tab. Nuevos Ministerios is also a station of the suburban train system (“Cercanías Renfe”).

Buses 16, 19, 51 and night bus N1 stop on Serrano street, just some meters away from CSIC entrance.

Location

Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport has four terminals. As described in the homepage of the airport , all terminals are conveniently connected to the Metro Subway Line 8 (PINK LINE), which ends up in "Nuevos Ministerios", 10 minutes walking distance from the CSIC central headquarters (see tabs "Location" and "Map".)

Taxis are also available at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport. The trip to/from CSIC takes about half an hour and a has a FLAT RATE that you can check on this link (30 euros in 2016)
