I am Tenured Scientist at the Instituto de Estructura de la Materia (IEM-CSIC). I graduated in Chemistry in 2001 and earned my PhD in Chemical Physics in 2006 from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. During my PhD I worked on the analysis of natural dyes by Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS). I worked at the Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York and the City College of New York as a postdoctoral research associate under the supervision of Marco Leona and Prof. John R. Lombardi, respectively. During that period I worked on the application of SERS spectroscopy to art and forensic sciences. Since 2012, I hold a permanent research position in the experimental research lab of the Surface Spectroscopies & Surface Plasmon Photonics group in the Department of Nuclear, Vibrational and Disorder Media Spectroscopy. My current research interests include SERS analysis of dyes and drugs, DFT calculations and development of sensors based on SERS.
