Surface Spectroscopes & Surface Plasmon Photonics group is located at the campus of the CSIC's headquarters, in dowtown Madrid. You can find e-mail addresses and telephone numbers of the group members in the Members page.
BY PLANE
Madrid Barajas airport is about 10 km west of the city of Madrid. There are three ways you can get from the airport to the CSIC campus.
1) You may take a taxi straight from the airport to campus. It should not cost you more than 25 euros, including extra fees for luggage, holidays or night service. Taxis in Madrid are white with a red band.
2) There is also an airport shuttle bus that runs every 10-15 minutes from outside terminals T1 and T2. It is a comfortable bus painted blue and it is designed to carry luggage. The price per trip is approximately 3 euros. The shuttle makes two stops in Madrid, the first one in the north west of the city is at Avenida de América and the second is in the city centre at Plaza de Colón. To arrive at the CSIC, you must get off at the first stop at Avenida de América and take a taxi or the metro (grey line number 6 to the metro station República Argentina). More information here.
3) Alternatively, a brand new metro line (the bright pink line 8) now connects the airport to the city centre. A one-way ticket costs about 1 euro and allows you unlimited connections within the metro system. The metro stop closest to the CSIC is República Argentina on the grey line 6 (Exit: Calle Joaquín Costa). However, we recommend you stop instead at Nuevos Ministerios on line 8 from the airport. The CSIC is about a five minutes walking. Please refer to the street map to help you locate us. If you come to us from within Spain, you will also need to take the metro from the coach and national railway stations in Madrid (see below).
BY COACH
There are two coach stations in the city at Avenida de América (see above) and at Méndez álvaro. Upon arrival at either station please refer to the metro map and follow the directions as in 3) above.
BY TRAIN (RENFE)
The metro is connected to the inter-city trains at many points in the city. The principal connections are at Nuevos Ministerios, Chamartín and Atocha. As when arriving by coach please refer to the metro map and follow the directions as in 3) above.
