Dust and Ice Particles Spectroscopy and Scattering

Laboratory astrophysics has made outstanding progress in recent years. Infrared spectroscopy applied to astrophysical media like ices, dust and plasma provides a wealth of information and data of fundamental value to the analysis and interpretation of remote observations. Different models are devised to study the physico-chemical properties of such media. With this workshop we intend to offer a description of the available tools in this area with examples of their recent applications.

The aim of the workshop is to bring together researchers interested in laboratory astrophysics and modelers potentially interested in using the experimental data. This meeting will gather expert researchers in this field and other scientists interested in this area. There will be a number of main lectures (30 min plus 15 min discussion), plus shorter oral presentations (10 min plus 5 min discussion).

This workshop makes part of the activities programmed within the “Cosmic dust” project (Redes de Excelencia del Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad), as well as those of the “Astrophysical ices in the lab: a deep look into their structure and physico-chemical properties”, CSIC i-link Project between IEM-CSIC and ILTS-Hokkaido University, Japan.

The scientific sessions will take place at the Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía, IAA, CSIC, in Granada.
